I am now breaking one of my rules... I am blogging at work. It's been a long week, and I got in this morning for a 7AM conference call so I'm due for a break. Plus, I received a little "food for thought" from our global director of marketing, which I thought was interesting and applicable to our little world of Russian adoption. As this applied to work, we were discussing our branding strategy and what types of actions are needed in order to create, build and reinforce a brand:- Consistency
- Persistence
- Frequency
These are probably key fundamentals of marketing (which I never studied) but thought that these factors hold true in any project which we want to successfully complete, including those projects which we may encounter difficulty. Like this adoption thing. - Consistency - dossier completion (including notaries & apostilles), "unreciprocated/unwavering love" for a child you've never met
- Persistence - waiting to complete homestudy, waiting for immigration clearance, waiting for dossier completion, waiting for referral, waiting to travel, waiting for court date
- Frequency - "what is going on?" emails/calls to agency, check email addiction, blogging
TGIF!PS. Thanks for the nice comments about my previous post. I appreciate it~
I try so hard not to look at any blogs at work. But it's hard. I've managed to not write or post, but I'm addicted to checking my favorite blogs frequently. I need to stop. Really. It's bad.
So, that is one of the benefits of my blog addiction reading- getting these great ideas from people like you. Thanks again for letting me know about that biology question. I was stressing over if I had understood that right. I am not sure if my email addiction and blog addiction is getting me any closer to my adoption (Frequency) but it sure makes the wait go by quicker. Persistence and consistency certainly described my first months of paperwork though and I know that more is to come.
I think the principals apply even more to raising a child. Consistency, persistance and frequency in love, discipline, goals, etc.
It makes me chuckle though.
Persistence... This is the major key. Never ever ever give up.
