About a month ago, I posted about my abdominal pain and my next step from my GI specialist was to go in for an ultrasound. I went in three weeks ago. It took almost 30 minutes for the full probing. That will probably my closest experience I'll have for ultrasound / tummy so I made most of it. The doctor said that he would call me with the results. Guess what? He hasn't. Before today I had left 3-4 messages. Finally I was put through to his personal nurse and she spent probably 15 minutes discussing my case. My ultrasound was completely normal. They checked out my stomach, liver, spleen, kidneys and even saw my aorta. Apparently my left kidney is bigger than my right but that was about the extent of the excitement. This is good news.We decided that since I have some obvious GI issues which may be the results of stress / anxiety that I would continue on my high-fiber diet (take Citracell and eat lots of apples), exercise (darnit!) and find ways to relax - like mediation. I prefer doing this rather than more tests &/or going on Zelnorm or some low-dose anti-anxiety medication. I am still having the pains on and off, but they are moderately distracting & painful and it's not getting any worse. ps. I still like reality TV but I am happy to report that I have dramatically reduced the number of shows that I watch on a regular basis. Still tops: American Idol.
Your diet sounds good, but as I am sure you know- drink LOTS of water with that high-fiber diet or you are sure to get stomach aches!
