Yesterday when I got home from work I found a dog roaming around our frontyard and the park next door. The dog was very friendly, yet his owner was no where to be seen. He also wasn't wearing a collar/ID tags. So I enticed him into our fenced backyard with cat treats because I was afraid of him running into the street and/or getting lost in the nature preserve area behind our house.
I gave him some dog food - which he gobbled up right away. Then Michael and I got started on the "lost dog poster" project. We took pics, posted a few flyers around the neighborhood, and the went to the local Petco for food & to post a flyer. Meanwhile, our new dog friend was having a great time running around our backyard and meeting some of our dog neighbors and playing chase along the fence line. And getting his belly rubbed, playing chase with us, and watching us intently through the back door whenever we went inside.
The plan was to house him in our garage overnight (to keep Yoshi safe), and then take him to the local humane society in the morning.
About 8pm we got a knock at our front door, and there was a woman with 3 young boys saying that they saw their dog Louie running around our backyard. They called for him and he came charging around the corner... happy and showing his belly to his human brothers. The boys jumped on him, chanting "Louie! Louie!". It was a great reunion. Apparently Louie made his way out of the backyard due to some fencing construction (and today we learned from another neighbor that Louie is known neighborhood-wide for this).
I'm now missing my Louie... even though I only knew him for a couple of hours. I'm pretty sad, aren't I?
p.s. I hope you told them to put some tags on the poor thing.
Hey...I just read that I got tagged. Sorry, it took a little while to read it. So, I will get working on it sister!. Thanks for the update on the Carlsbad weather and the goings on.... Please tell me more even if it seems insignificant to you. Right now, in Moscow...I am looking out over a sea of broken down buildings. I would love to hear about Encinitas and Carlsbad. Does my heart good!!.
