Furniture (Check), Work (Neverending), Vacation (Planned)
Hi everyone. Thanks so much for your comments on the furniture & bedding. It helps alot to have some real life market research. There are so many choices, not just with furniture, but clothes, toys, schools, childcare, you all know the drill.

I think I will go ahead and order the beds. The trundle bed is on back order until the end of July, but that's ok as we are not expecting our children before then! As for the bedding, I went to Pottery Barn Kids in La Jolla this weekend, and they had a couple of the quilts. Honestly, I don't think that they are worth the cost... each quilt was $149! That doesn't include the bedding, duvet, duvet cover, shams, decorative shams, etc. So I am going to look other places. I like the idea of buying everything from one place, since I'm design challenged and one place helps me make sure things match or complement. But the quality was not worth $149...

Work has been keeping me busy, as I usually say about every other post. I am traveling to Tokyo and Singapore for working starting June 2nd, so I am busy getting my presentations/materials ready for that, and also get things taken care of at home, and trying to have a social life with my husband. We are looking forward to the long weekend, and will probably have friends over on Monday for a BBQ.

And I'm so excited because we booked a camp site at the Grand Canyon over 4th of July weekend. We have only camped once together (Michael used to go all of the time before me). I think it's so cool that we can DRIVE to the Grand Canyon and camp there. It's not some prairie in the middle of Wisconsin, it's the Grand Canyon! Our second choice was the Joshua Tree National Park, but when I discovered the average temperature is 108F in July, I decided we will put that off until the Fall. It's so nice to have a vacation to look forward to!

Back to work...

I saw some quilts at Target that were similar style to what you have here. Probably not the same quality but they are probably $50-80.
Vacations are fun. We are planning one to Las Vegas in June.

$149 is a bit much. Good decision.

That's so cool that you're going to Tokyo and Singapore. I know it's for work, but still... how cool. I used to travel for work and I visited places like Mason, Texas - "population just plain good folks!" Tokyo and Singapore -- color me jealous.

Have you looked at Company Kids? I think the website is companykids.com. They have some neat coordinated bedding that's not quite as bad as PBKids in terms of price and is good quality. My son has the construction truck theme- but now he's outgrowing it and we'll probably have to redo it sometime in the next few years.

Travel plans sound cool- we stayed at the El Tovar when we went to the Canyon- we're not quite the adventurous camping types, although it would be fun to try once or twice.

Jetsetter Tricia- Going from La Jolla (did I tell you that is my favorite vacation spot) to Tokyo and Singapore to the Grand Canyon. Lots of fun plans coming up! Good luck on getting the bedding you want. Bedding is always more expensive than it looks like it should be! But it can be SO cute too!

Wow thats alot of travel! DH has been to singapore and loved it. And Tokyo has a great love of knitting, so if you see a yarn store, drool at it for me!

Cool on the camping thing...DH and I used to go all the time when we were first married. We actually planned a trip for summer, but my personal situation is delaying things...probably will go upstate NY..camping is very romantic!!

Neat that you're looking at furniture and bedding! I love Pottery Barn but can never decide on anything. I also hate shopping around, so if I can see something pretty in a catalog then it's much easier. =) I ordered my daughter's quilt from Company Kids (above) and the price was comparable to PB. But it was a patchwork of pinks, yellows and some greens. It's pretty, and it has been through the wash about 10 times already with no loose threads. It has shrunk a little. I ordered C's quilt from PB just lately... the one with the trains and puppy dogs. It was too cute to pass up, and I'd been shopping for it for a year and a half so that justified the cost (again $149ish). I really like it, and it comes a little larger so that when washed the shrinking (which was minimal) doesn't affect how it covers the bed. For girls... I loved the top quilt with the pink and the bright flowers! Pinks and purples are always safe color choices. Sometimes if you look at PB and Company Kids sites for sales and closeouts you can find better deals, but I've found that if there's something you really like, snap it up at full cost because chances are everyone else will too and there won't be any left for the sale price.

If Joshua Tree is supposed to be 108 then how hot is the grand canyon? I would love to camp there sometime. How fun!!! Tell us all about it when you get back.
