Prolonging the Long Holiday Weekend
It's been a nice, long weekend. I didn't do much besides alot of R&R. We went out to dinner both Friday & Saturday night. Friday we went downtown and had a fancy meal overlooking the San Diego bay (like tourists). The couple next to us were celebrating their 20 year anniversary, which was nice. Saturday night we went to a place that overlooked Miramar Airbase,,, another interesting place which we'll be going back too. The coconut shrimp was wonderful. This evening we had friends over from my work for a casual BBQ. It was a nice evening because the weather has been awesome this weekend... very sunny & mid 70s or so.

After visiting another series of model homes on Friday, we have decided to meet with an interior design company which has a nice showroom and reputation for designing some of the nicer new development in San Diego. Although they charge $75 per hour for design services, I think this is money well spent since we will be furnishing a whole house... having a professional will help us avoid choosing furniture which just doesn't flow through the house. We also get a 15% discount on all furniture bought through their store. I'm sure it's marked up 15% (or more), but it's a better deal than just walking in and trying to figure out everything ourselves. I also have the get the Pottery Barn beds / dressers ordered this week. I think I am finally getting somewhere with the house!

We do have some adoption news to report! I was looking at our yearlong calendar and realized that we really should go to another "informational seminars" at our agency before we apply with them in August, and the next meetings are June 18th and July 20th. We can't make July 20th, so we'll have to go in June. At this time we'll also get the new application paperwork... maybe get some questions answered about reaccrediation and referral timelines. I have decided that we'll only sign with an agency that is accrediated, not with an agency which is waiting for reaccrediation. So we'll see how that works out when the time comes in August. (I have two backups that we are considering.)

This week is another crazy one so I don't know if I'll be writing for a while. I leave for Tokyo on Friday morning. I am thinking I will try to post some pics from there & Singapore, but we'll see how technically competent I am abroad. I have meetings starting at 7:30AM tomorrow, but I'm up waiting for Rhonda's Tuesday report, and I'm hoping it will post sometime around midnight PST...

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Only accredited agencies... very smart, Tricia. I still wonder how things would have been different if my agency had been accredited from the start. What's that they say about hindsight?

It's good to know your time to begin is edging nearer. I think going with an accredited agency is smart when everything in Russian adoption is so unpredictable.

Have fun traveling!!

I want an interior decorator to design my house. I am still waiting to know when we can switch lives for awhile- like Freaky Friday. That would be so funny- me trying to do your job. I could get you fired pretty quick! Then we would have to switch back after that:).

Great news on the adoption front- a little more activity as you move toward your 1 year marriage mark and your application. I hope things go well with whatever agency you choose.

I can't believe you waited up for my posts! How cool :) Good luck with your trips abroad.
