There will be a camping trip afterall

Yesterday I checked the State Park website and noticed that a campground about two hours from us now has availability over the 4th of July weekend. So we will be heading to Mount San Jacinto State Park/Idyllwild, CA and stay two nights here starting on Sunday. I'm excited that we can pack up our stash (above) and have a couple of nights under the stars. This is my second camping trip EVER but I think we'll be fine as there are showers & wireless internet access at the Visitor's Center. LOL.

I have today off - originally was planning to do some shopping for Michael's birthday but afraid of the traffic which I'll surely encounter. OK, I must go now before it gets too bad.

I haven't been camping in years. Maybe I'll have to follow your lead later this summer.

Have a fun weekend!

The park looks beautiful! We got all this great camping gear when we got married (3 yrs ago) and have still not gone camping.

Have fun!

Hey there, you just rolled right through my old stomping grounds. I graduated from Hemet High, and then prompting headed north out of there! Actually, I get back there now and then to visit the family. And Idyllwild is one of my favorite places to go. The hike to Taquitz Peak is pretty cool. We also took a hike from some trailhead just up from town a bit... Kevin would remember. There was a great backdoor view of Palm Springs and the Indio Valley.

Isn't packing the food tedious? I always want to have the right stuff, and then when I get there all I want to do is hit the camping store for Pringles. And there something very unappetizing about bringing home food from camping that you didn't eat.

Hope the trip was lots of fun! (And not too hot!) We're heading to Tahoe for a weeklong camping extravaganza in a couple of weeks. I hope the mosquitoes calm down before then!
