Catch Up Time

I can't believe it's been almost two weeks from my last post. I feel like I've been attached to a computer. I'm going through "Russian Adoption Overstimulation". I'm reading tons of blogs (so much good news) and buying adoption books on eBay. Trying to get my copy of Rosetta Stone for a good price. Hope we aren't just bidding each other up!

1. Adoption Update
As mentioned in a previous post, our agency plans to time our dossier and court date so we are over in Russia next July-Aug-Sept timeframe. So we are not in any rush to get our homestudy completed but we are moving along with conviction. I'm nervous about the reaccrediation situation but what can you do? We aren't paperwork ready like so many others so I'm hoping things will be done by the time we are ready. Next week our agency has its annual fall picnic and then the following week they are having a seminar with a local MD who specializes in the care of post-institutionalized children. We'll be going to both activities.

2. Dog Adoption Update
So Russian adoption isn't enough for me. Yes, I've fallen in love with a 2 yo RR named Duke. M thinks I'm nuts, but this guys seems like a nice fit for us. We are talking about it this weekend, and the sensible side of me with probably prevail, but that cute guy you see above is Duke (top pic).

3. Canine Coach
Tomorrow will be my second dog obedience class. A local dog trainer provides a few slots for humane society animals every session and I've signed up and will be working with a cool young puppy called Rufus. Rufus is 9mo, a shephard mix, and given up to the humane society because his family is moving. I don't get it but I guess that's why we need the humane society. He's fun, goofy and I suspect a real couch potato. For kicks I'll post his pic too (bottom pic).

Rufus is adorable.
I got a Pimsleur set of Russian CD's for $40 at Barnes & Nobles. It's pretty good. I also have a set of Living Language Russian CD's that we don't like. You have to be looking at the book when you listen to the CD's which is not what we wanted. If you want these I'll send them to you. I tried to sell them but have had no luck.

If I lived near you Rufus would be mine. I can't take that face. My husband would love him. Okay let me stop now.

So glad you are moving right along. There will be times when it seems like things are moving slow, then fast, then slow... you know.

I have the rosetta stone. I did it for a week straight and then dropped it. I am so bad. the lang. is hard. I cant pronounce many of the words no matter how hard I try. I bet when I get the call it will motivate me to start it up again. I am a procrastinator on some things and the only thing that gets me moving is when it is the last hour.

That is a good idea to just keep moving with your paperwork- even if they are planning on holding you until that time frame you will be surprised how long everything takes.

How fun to adopt a dog too! You WILL have your hands full next year.

What a great seminar! I wish they had something like that here. Also, love the RR. I am a sucker for dogs.

Those dogs are too cute. Great idea to keep moving on your paperwork so you won't (hopefully) have to scramble later.
