Raising My Game
We've been thinking alot about my blog posts lately. They bore me. I think they are unoriginal. I'm either writing very factually, posting pictures of my beloved fur babies, or giving you dinner recipes which look like they could already be digested twice over.

For goodness sake, I'm in marketing. Shouldn't that make me a pretty good writer?

Well, I'm in marketing for a biotech company and our target customer segment is academic scientists, highly technical, aged 25-40 years old. (I also have the support of a writing & graphic design team.) Maybe that's why this blog is so dry?

The blogs I love have dry humor & honesty (like Elle or Anne-Marie), amusing parenting stories (like Rhonda), or have well-written stories which relate to current life events (like Margaret). Last year I was a wannabe Russian PAP. I feel like I've joined that club.

Now I want to start telling you about our russian adoption story. With new life. I want to have a blog that's fun and informative to read. Please bear with me as I find my way.

I go through stretches where I just can't think of anything to post. But then I come back to it and start thinking of blog posts and ideas and wanting to write more. My problem is that I'm a writer -- I write all day long at work and sometimes that saps any creativity I might have had left for my blog. (But I love my job... no complaints there.)

I've never thought your blog was boring, but I do understand the desire to raise your game. I do that with my blog, too.

Thanks for the compliment, by the way!

I don't think your blog is boring at all. It's one of the ones I look at everyday. :)

I know what you mean though. I'm new to the game and I feel like I have nothing to write about because I am not "in process" yet. I always think mine has to be somewhat interesting or no one will ever read it, seeing as there is no adoption stuff.

Lately though I have been on a binge - I have like 7 drafts saved up because I keep coming up with things I want to write about. Guess because it's early... I just started it.

ps - I enjoy the pics of your pets :) we miss our animals - couldn't bring them to the island.

I enjoy your blog! I love seeing your dog and cat.
How are things going on the dossier front? Once that is over, things should move quickly!
Good luck!
hugs,
Laura

Hang in there Tricia. I'm new to this blogging thing, and figuring out the writing as I go along ;o)

Just be yourself. It's your blog.

Don't be so hard on yourself! I mean, let's face it...how exciting can dossier collection be? How exciting can waiting be? I get colorful posts by swearing, cursing and complaining, so maybe try that for a bit. Just be YOU!

I'd just like to speak up here to say your blog is NOT boring. I check it every day, and I only do that with six blogs. I don't comment as often as I'd like to because I am friggin exhausted by the time I get to read blogs, but I still love your site.

We have all been there. You still have me as a reader.

I totally understand. I feel like I could be a better writer if I just had some time to think about my posts. I feel like I just throw them up there and they don't have the substance I want. I think what everyone wants to see is your true self coming through. You are doing great! I like it best when you talk about your nice home and exotic vacations. It is like reading about how the rich and famous live.

Oh Silly Tricia, don't be so hard on yourself. Your blogs are great and I love keeping with the adoption progress. I think it is a great way to keep up with all that is going on. Mine has sort-of become a little hobby and I try to capture funny or cute pictures, but I don't write as good as my other friends. I just love to get comments- that is the best part!

Girlfriend,

You have enough personality, smarts, and talent to drive ten blogs. Just know that we're out here and we love you and don't be afraid to let us know what's in your heart!

Plus, all of the newbies on the Russian Adopt user group could learn A LOT from reading your blog as is.

XO!
