We've been thinking alot about my blog posts lately. They bore me. I think they are unoriginal. I'm either writing very factually, posting pictures of my beloved fur babies, or giving you dinner recipes which look like they could already be digested twice over.
For goodness sake, I'm in marketing. Shouldn't that make me a pretty good writer?
Well, I'm in marketing for a biotech company and our target customer segment is academic scientists, highly technical, aged 25-40 years old. (I also have the support of a writing & graphic design team.) Maybe that's why this blog is so dry?
The blogs I love have dry humor & honesty (like Elle or Anne-Marie), amusing parenting stories (like Rhonda), or have well-written stories which relate to current life events (like Margaret). Last year I was a wannabe Russian PAP. I feel like I've joined that club.
Now I want to start telling you about our russian adoption story. With new life. I want to have a blog that's fun and informative to read. Please bear with me as I find my way.
I've never thought your blog was boring, but I do understand the desire to raise your game. I do that with my blog, too.
Thanks for the compliment, by the way!
I know what you mean though. I'm new to the game and I feel like I have nothing to write about because I am not "in process" yet. I always think mine has to be somewhat interesting or no one will ever read it, seeing as there is no adoption stuff.
Lately though I have been on a binge - I have like 7 drafts saved up because I keep coming up with things I want to write about. Guess because it's early... I just started it.
ps - I enjoy the pics of your pets :) we miss our animals - couldn't bring them to the island.
How are things going on the dossier front? Once that is over, things should move quickly!
Good luck!
hugs,
Laura
Just be yourself. It's your blog.
You have enough personality, smarts, and talent to drive ten blogs. Just know that we're out here and we love you and don't be afraid to let us know what's in your heart!
Plus, all of the newbies on the Russian Adopt user group could learn A LOT from reading your blog as is.
XO!
