Camping at Big Bear Lake

On Friday we headed up to Big Bear Lake about 2.5 hours from our house. We stayed at Pineknot Campground in the San Bernardino Forest. On Saturday morning, we went for a 5-mile hike on the Cougar Crest Trail (which leads to the Pacific Crest Trail). Thani kept the pace going up the mountain... but he was a little bit slower coming down. We all ended up really really dusty! We had lunch at "Mandolin Bistro" (pet-friendly) in the village of Big Bear. By Saturday afternoon, Thani learned that there were many squirrels to chase at our campsite. I don't know how many times we had to tell him "no" and redirect his attention. (Good for future toddler practice???)
Tomorrow I am going to give our agency director a call to find out where we are on the waiting list. We received an email on Friday, basically saying that there isn't any new news... but everyone is confident re-accrediation will come but no one knows when. In the meantime, referrals & adoptions continue to be processed by our agency... just more slowly (and referrals with less information in about half of the regions).

wow - it's beautiful there! Sounds like you had a great time :) I miss pine trees and lakes.... guess I'll have to go lay in my hammock and listen to the waves crashing to make myself feel better.
