Last night Michael and I attended a pre-travel meeting at our agency. We heard from one family who adopted from Kirov. The family who spoke submitted their dossier at the end of January, got a referral of an infant boy immediately (there were a bunch that came through at once...good timing), and traveled a month later to meet him. The trip was short - an overnight to the region and back to Moscow the same day. They left Moscow on a Saturday and knew on Monday that their court date was in 10 days! They flew back, had their 20 minutes in court, picked up the baby, and traveled back that night to Moscow (no 10-day wait) for the formalities. He's now 11 months and they have been home two months. (Just an inspiring story for those of you waiting... it really can happen this fast!)
Back to us. Our dossier coordinator was hosting the event. We talked to her about our dossier (pictured above). Apparently it is in Moscow getting translated. Once translated, it will stay in Moscow until we receive our referrals. Then it will be sent to the region. This keeps our options open. She recommended that we contact our agency director to find out if he had any idea when we should hear some news, or at least find out where we are on the waiting list. I think I am too nervous to call today...
Perhaps we'll meet at a future meeting. Maybe YOU'LL be the guest speaker with your new child!
