We are still on schedule to leave for Moscow on Monday, Oct 1st. Today Michael went down to our agency to drop off the passports. Apparently for this region we need special adoption visas which are an additional $150 per visa.

I heard from all of the Moscow doctors today but decided tonight to hire Dr. Ageeva due to her responsiveness and Ronda's recommendation. (Ronda and her husband brought home two little ones from Ekat about 2 months ago.) This is a huge relief!

We also got our airline tickets. We decided to go with the non-refundable tickets because they were so much cheaper than tickets you can change. If something changes in the next couple days, then we'll need to pay the change fee & fare increase (if applicable) but I can't believe the cost will go higher than the changeable tickets. Fingers crossed! What did you guys do?

Oh, we are flying direct from LAX to SVO on Aeroflot. On the way back we fly SVO to NYC (Aeroflot) and back to LAX (Delta). Hmm, that may be a pain to switch airlines?

And we talked with the family who is traveling with us. We were able to arrange a similar itinerary. We are all planning to stay in Moscow until Sunday at the Marriott Grand. I found a great offer (cheaper than the adoption rate by 1900 rubles)... 7000 per night which includes breakfast, a bottle of wine and fruit plate on arrival! It's the Escape Romance package.

Work knows, business trip cancelled, and projects have been delegated.

Tomorrow the agenda isn't as full. We'll make sure Thani is signed up to go to the cage-free play ranch. (Michael took Thani and Yoshi for their annual check-ups today.) We need to make sure we'll have enough cash. And I need to review all of the U of Washington information and decide if we are going to consult with them.

Sounds like you're all set. Have fun packing and remember to take lots and lots and lots and lots of photos and video. It helps pass the time between trips when you're longing to hold your little ones.

We stayed at the Marriott Grand on trip two but missed out on the romance package. Be sure and use the Executive lounge for breakfast & cocktail hour. The staff was great and the food is very good and free.

We knew that September was going to be "the" month. Hooray! Now, you just better be blogging every second while you're there when you're not with the girls. We are so excited for you!

congrats on your referral and your trip. I am very happy for you. We did not do the exchangeable tickets and ended up having to exchange. Delta was very cool about it when we told them it was for an adoption and they gave us a pass on most of the increase.

Changing airlines won't be that big of a deal. We changed from Asiana to United in LA and it was no problem. You have to likely change terminals anyway so no biggie. We didn't go with refundables either. Never had a need to.

Do the consult with U of Dub. The docs there are fantastic! We used a doc in Rhode Island, and while he was good I wished I had used the U. Since coming home we've taken the boy there and his doc is awesome!

You'll have to let us know how the LAX - Moscow goes. We're considering that for our second trip. Delta and Aeroflot are partners so luggage shouldn't be an issue. Especially since you'll have to clear customs in NYC and pick up your luggage no matter the airline.

We also love the U of Wash drs. They are absolutely fabulous.

I'm so excited that you are finally getting to travel!!

We did that reverse flight arrangement on triip 1 (Delta-NYC-SVO and return NS Aeroflot). The service was fine on both airlines. I love the Non stop flights...we used Ambien and barely felt like we were on the airplane at all! The Grand is nice and close to all the sights too. We stayed at the Marriott Tverskaya and it was a LONG walk to Red Square, especially in December! This is all so exciting! We have a local friend who adopted a girl from NN about 5 years ago. I can hook you up if you want to talk with her about the region.
