We are tentatively* scheduled to leave for Russia on Monday, October 1st.
We have a blind referral of two bio-sibling girls, 3-6 years old in Nizhny Novgorod.
We will fly into Moscow and get picked up by our coordinator at the airport on Tuesday and drive six hours to the region. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we'll get to see the girls. Friday night we will drive back to Moscow. We will probably stay in Moscow until Sunday to visit the city without children and prepare for Trip #2 which is expected to occur within 1-2 months. I've read on the message boards that NN sometimes waives the 10-day waiting period.
That's about all we know. We won't know any more information about the girls before we travel. We will be the second family traveling to this region in many years (due to lack of referral information). This all came about Thursday afternoon/Friday morning. It all sounds kind of crazy writing this down but it feels right.
Is it normal to be feel so very excited, nervous, nauseous and overwhelmed at the same time?
(Any advice would be appreciated.)
*Tentative because we will probably travel with another family who hasn't committed yet; and our agency isn't sure they will be able to get us the appropriate visas in time but they will know more on Monday.

Wow, wow, wow!!! That is fabulous news and yes we felt exactly the same. That means you could have your kids home by the end of the year if all goes well. The wait is ending!
May I recommend you contact a private visa firm about your visas. Email me privately if you would like more information.

Congratulations! This is so exciting and we're so happy for you guys.

Yep, you're feeling the same way we were a couple of weeks ago - just add unprepared and felt blindsided :) It feels almost unreal that it's happening.

Congrats again and we look forward to hearing about your trip.

I just read your email and got over here to check things out. I do think that was Elle's travel agency. I checked it out too when we went, but they didn't work well with my agency. However, I have heard great things about them for the agencies they do work with. My heart started beating faster as I read your news! Yea!!!

Excited, nervous, nauseous and overwhelmed is exactly how I felt and I am so anxious to hear how it all goes for you! I can't believe it is coming down to one more week until you go!

Yahoo! Things are moving! Take it as it comes. Don't get ahead of yourself. Enjoy the trip, pray these are the girls (sounds "good" to me), and record your thoughts in a journal on your way. I know of nothing else to tell you--just the basics. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We will be celebrating Noah's first birthday Sept. 28--party on Sunday. Here's to the children!

That is so exciting!! I remember the intense feelings we had when Jenni got her referral and was preparing for the first trip. The 2-3 months between referral and arrival home with the kids was a time of breath holding, knotted stomachs, and anticipation so strong it was unbelievable. Journalize every minute so you can re-live it later.
