Four years ago, when we had to evacuate, we were just starting our dossier. The last thing I did, just before we left, was run around and take photos of every room, mostly for sentimental reasons (and insurance), but also thinking that our dossier might say "we now live with my husband's parents, but these are photos of the house we used to have". Fortunatly, the firefighters saved our house (and our neighbors on both sides), they probably also saved our adoption!
This week, we evacuated with our two (Russian-born) kids. The biggest challenge was staying totally calm so that they wouldn't get scared. Luckily we had Grandma and Grandpa's house to go to.
