Orpheus Dog Park, February 2008Today was Thani's visit to the hospital. He was admitted this morning - Kristin came over last night for a sleepover so both Michael and I could go to drop him off. His bloodwork was "perfect" and his x-rays showed no damage to his heart, lungs or arteries. This all suggests that the infection has been mild and/or has not caused any noticeable damage. My latest suspicion is that he was infected before we got him, and the heartworm medication he's been on for the last 18 months has kept the infection in check.
So he was given the first treatment injection early this afternoon along with some pain medication. The doctor just called (7:15PM) to say that he is doing well - the best patient today (no barking) - and is just checking out the other dogs. He has not had any reaction to the medication so far, and will get another dose of pain meds at 2AM.
We will call in the morning to see when we can pick him up.
Update of Rita! Her eye and tummy continue to heal. She didn't need any tylenol today; but she continues to take an antibiotic. Her eye looks good - alot of the redness and swelling is gone. Many of you have asked what she thinks of her eye... The day after the surgery she asked when we she was going to have surgery on the other eye. Since then I've been alittle surprised by her reaction... I thought she would spend hours looking at herself in the mirror. But all she really does is look at herself - say "wow, bolshoi glas" ("wow, big eye") and proceeds to do whatever she was doing.
She looks good with her "new" eye in the previous post's pictures.
