Just a quick update on Rita's progress speaking english...

She knows her numbers 1 through 10.

She knows "ABC" and can pronounce the other letters when prompted.

She knows "hello", "how are you?", "I'm fine thanks", "good morning", "good bye" and "excuse me".

She's very good at telling Thani to "sit". We are also working on "down" and "drop it".

Her first unprompted english phrase was "Good job Thani" after Thani went #1 during his morning walk. (I have noticed that I say this to both Thani and Rita went we have success in that department.)

Her second unprompted english phrase was "I love you papa. Pick me up please." Said this morning, after many many attempts to get him to pick her up saying "pick me up please" in Russian. (Obviously the words Michael was teaching her earlier in the day.)

That's great. You'll never forget her first English words. Peanut's were "walk" and "stand" on the people mover at the airport. My favorite little phrase he used to say was "Ni chevo, no big deal." (I used to say a lot of things in Russian and then in English -- it's how he learned most phrases. But instead of just saying them in English, he'd say both like I did.)
