Weekend Photos & English Update
Rita modeling Aunt Kristin's clothes on Friday

Rita's first ride in Kristin's BMV convertible

Practicing the alphabet on the new whiteboard

No smiles so you can see Rita's "big eye"
New phrases this week said without prompting
"Mom, cool" (actually sounds like "Mom, coal")
Said many times this weekend... like when we were riding in the convertible, and while watching America's Funniest H*me Videos. OMG, Rita loves that show and should be paid to be in the studio audience.
"Oh my goodness" / "Oh my gosh"
Said with much drama like when Michael turned on the new overhead projector showing his computer desktop on the family room wall.
"Good one"
Said when writing letters. We've been practicing this phrase when playing tennis and when picking out apples in the grocery store.
"Look"
Instead of saying this in Russian, she'll now try to grab our attention by yelling "Look, mama!".
"Mom, High 5!" (and reaching up to give me 5)
No idea where she learned this.
One other new funny thing Rita does, usually when we are eating a meal. Before giving me a "thumbs up" for her meal (she does this when she really really likes something) she has been scrambling her review. I mean, she'll do a 'thumbs up/thumbs down/thumbs sideways' a few times really fast before giving me her final verdict (with a proud smile).

Good job with your alphabet Rita!! Your letters look great! Lucas has no interest in even trying to write his letters yet. Sounds like your American phrases are catchin on quickly too! High 5 Mom! :)

That's great. Vlad always did the thumbs up/down/sideways thing, too. Funny that Katya, Vlad, and Rita do that and they were all about the same age.

I love the little phrases the kids pick up, especially when you wouldn't expect it. Vlad picked up "okey dokey smokey" and it never failed to crack me up.

Rita's eye looks great!
