We arrived in Portland on Saturday to visit with Aoife, Jeremy and baby Ronan.
We had a great time going the local Farmer's Market, checking out the good deals at a Hanna Andersson outlet store, consuming too much food at the neighborhood cafes and coffee shops, seeing the Sex in the City movie on Saturday night (just the girls), and exploring the OMSI with the kids on Sunday.
Rita loved to help Aoife with baby Ronan. Here's a picture from breakfast on Sunday.

On Sunday we went over to Jeremy's parents for dinner. They live in a neat area of town with a great playground area and rose garden.

On Monday, we said our goodbyes and drove over to Multnomah Falls to see the second largest waterfall in North America. We then made our way up to Tacoma to see
Lisa and her family.

It was a wonderful evening - finally getting to meet Lisa! Honestly, I was kind of nervous due to her blog celebrity status. It's hard to believe that we have known each other since December 2005 and this is the first time we have met. The shared experience of our adoptions - the unbelievably good and the rock bottom bad - has initiated a true friendship which I hope continues for years to come.
The kids were a bit shy at first but by the end of the evening they happily played with each other. Lisa cooked a wonderful Thai meal for us and even shared her yummy birthday cake for dessert. We got to meet (Rita = harass) the cats, check out her ass tea formulations, and meet the original Fred doll.
Today we drove out to Mt. Rainier with Lisa and Oleg. We didn't get to do our planned hike at Paradise because there was still a ton of snow on the ground but there were still lots to see.

Short hike near Longmire, Mt. Rainier.
We ended the day at Paddy Coyne's for dinner (great suggestion Lisa!). We went back to the
hotel early this evening because Rita has picked up a cough somewhere. Allergy medication (OTC) hasn't helped so we are trying a cough suppressant tonight (with a good night sleep). We hope we haven't infected everyone we have met along the way so far.
Tomorrow is a free day before we head to Seattle for sightseeing on Thursday and Friday.
*Yes, I am wearing the same sweatshirt in all of these photos.
And y'all like my hiking shoes?
