Rita-isms: Political Edition
(While watching the Democratic National Convention)

Me: Do you know who is running for President?

Rita: No.

Me: Barack Obama.

Rita: Oh, Barack Omama, is that her? him? (Pointing to Hillary Clinton)

Me: No, that's Hillary Clinton. Barack Obama - he is a man. (We are practicing "he" and "she" right now.)

Rita: Why is he running for President? Mom, turn on the Olympics to see the running.

Me: Who's running?

Rita: Barack Omama.

Today walking to school

Me: Do you remember who is running for president?

Rita: No.

Me: Barack Obama and John McCain.

Rita: Oh, yeah Barack Omama and John McCain. Will they run really fast? Why are they running? (Pretends to start running as if she is in a race.)

Me: They both want to be President of America. Like the principal of your school. We need a principal for America. They both want to be the principal of America.

Rita: Why?

Me: (Changed the subject to something else. Yes, who really would want to be the President?)
